When reading 1 John 4:8 "Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.", it occurred to me (as I'm sure it has to many others) that if you substitute the word "God" for the word "love" in 1 Corinthians 13, you get a beautiful definition of who God really is. Especially verses 4 through 7: God is patient, God is kind. He does not envy, He does not boast, He is not proud. He is not rude, He is not self-seeking, He is not easily angered, he keeps no record of wrongs. God does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. He always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. I can find much comfort and power to persevere knowing I have a God like this! Todd Stevens stevenst@iaserv.b10.ingr.com
