[net.lan] DECNET-DOS hardware compatibility

luk@mprvaxa.UUCP (William Luk) (09/23/86)

I need advices on DECNET-DOS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have a demo DECNET-DOS in house for evalutaion. It works perfect on IBM-XT,
but it does not work on AT&T 6300, HP VECTRA or other IBM clones. The problem
seems to be the keyboard interrupt or screen interrupt. Does anybody has the
same problem?

There is another product called VAXIM on the market. I understand that this
VAXIM will work on most of the IBM compatibles or clones, is that true?

DECnet-DOS from the shelf will not run on an HP Vectra without a
patch. DECnet-DOS uses interrupt vectors 6a-6e which are used by
     the Vectra for keyboard interrupts.

With the software patch we have created DECnet-DOS functions exactly
the same on the Vectra as an IBM-AT. I have just completed full
functional testing of this product for both the Ethernet and the
Asynchronous connections and have found no incompatibity problems
     with the patch installed.

This patch will be made available to customers wishing to run
DECnet-DOS on their Vectra by contacting a Hewlett Packard SE.

If their are any questions concerning DECnet-DOS on the Vectra
please feel free to contact me.
