I thought that some on the net might be interested in the experiences of a SAAB Turbo owner. I find the car to be exceptional, in all respects, including the maintenance costs. Though the cost of maintenance is higher than that of the 'economy' cars, you get what you pay for. Every maintenance stop (5,000 miles) is a complete overhaul of the car. They check everything from the tune of the engine, to whether the shock absorbers are still correct, to the individual lines for fuel and oil and etc, to verify that they are all correct. The car itself is the dream everyone writes about. It handles and allows you the freedom to escape that 'terrifing' situation. I have driven away from several accidents. And Not driven away from one. Though the car had several thousand dollars of damage, it was repaired to NEW condition, by removing the 'broken' parts and replacing them with the NEW parts. To see the car today you would not believe that it hit a wall at 60 mph. ( I walked away unhurt, and I thank my safety belt. ) I find that all of my family now wants to replace there cars with SAAB's and some of my friends are doing the same. Overall Car and Driver was right, The TOP sports sedan of the 80's is the SAAB TURBO. david barto (sdcsvax!barto)
