[net.auto] purchase recommendation

(I hope it's not too much of a bother to people that I have replied
to woods's inquiry via netnews. I tried to mail this directly to
him a couple of times, and was rebuffed. I tried both usenet and
Arpanet.)

I have a Honda Accord hatchback, and I absolutely love it. The car
is well-designed, solid, attractive, and generally a pleasure. (No,
I don't own any Honda stock!) For power, it won't stand up to my
younger brother's Trans Am. I think my whole engine would fit in one
of his cylinders. It is adequate, however. As far as cold weather,
you may remember what kind of winter we had in the mid-west. I live
in Madison, Wis, and there were a couple of mornings when I went out
at 7:45 AM into -25 to -30 degree weather and the car started. This is
after the car had been sitting outside all night, and does not count
wind-chill, which sometimes got down to -80 or so. The Honda dealership
here in town is excellent. What a pleasure it is to deal with them
after having experienced heartache and misery at the hands of the Mazda
dealership! In general, after about three years of owning the car,
I would give it a solid 'A'.
