Actually, if you read the signs posted on the roads as you enter the lovely state of Connecticut (where all the roads are pitted, all the restaruants are Itallian, and all the taxes are above average), they say: USE of Radar Detecting Equipment is ILLEGAL in Connecticut I once asked a lawyer about this and his recollection (he wasn't an expert on the subject) was that they couldn't confiscate your radar detector unless you had it in operation. Naturally your best defense on this point is to have it installed so the cop doesen't even know it's there. I'm not sure on what basis states are allowed to regulate possession and use of radar detectors, but I have a strong suspicion it's just that no one has taken a case up past the state courts. It does seem surprising however that a company making radar detectors, with lots of $$ at stake wouldn't sue. I have a friend who once proposed radar seeking missles as a reasonable defense against radar traps, but I haven't seen any for sale in Soldier of Fortune, or other similar mags; they might not be cost effective. - Alan S. The reasonable response of the govt to radar seeking missles is to put lots of low power radar receivers on telephone poles and the like. measure and countermeasure... Isn't it nice that we have the toys to entertain ourselves. Bill McKeeman decvax!wivax!mckeeman
