The screen effect code in the JOJO virus appears to come from the program DAZZLER.ASM which was listed in the "User-to-User" section of PC Magazine (Nov. 24, 1987; pages 386-388). It was also one of the programs included with the book PC Power Tools, published in June 1988. The code in the virus is virtually identical, with at most a tiny number of changes. In particular, it is very likely that any virus scanner using the screen effect code as its signature string will give a false positive indication on the program DAZZLER.COM. Steve R.
