I posted a message recently about an unusual problem that was occurring on a Novell LAN, with apparent virus involvement and missing files and directories. (V3, No. 177) Thanks for all the individual replies and suggestions. I had suggested initially that the problem was a perhaps a combination of a common virus and a person problem, and made some specific suggestions for each. I talked with the person again, and he has implemented some of the security suggestions. The problem with missing directories and files has not occurred since those steps were taken. He reports that the Fu Manchu "keyboard" messages were present on a workstation, indicating an operating copy, but it did not show up in the files that were examined for infections after size changes. At least at this point it appears likely that the mystery is solved, and there are no new viruses with expanded capabilities on Novell LANs. Charles Preston
