Well... It's gettin' to be the time of the year when ya pull the slicks of the car, and put on the treads. (I.e. the old one's are bald, and it's time to justify buying some new rubber, hydro-planing gives me such a queasy feeling, and all.) I'm looking primarily at Goodrich T/A Radials, and Pirelli(sp?) P-6's. Some people say the P-6's will walk away from the T/A's, and others cliam there's very little difference, except in price (the T/A's are cheaper). The question then is... Does anyone, who's unbiased, have any experience with both, or know anyone with such experience? Are there any other particular favorites? I really should have submitted this question sooner, since the T/A's are on sale till the end of the month (October!). How 'bout it, and advice out there? As is customary, I'll collect and submit/mail replies if the response seems to merit it. Thanks. Benton Holzwarth ...teklabs!tekid!bentonh

c The US government has a system of rating tires. You can get a list of these ratings at tire dealers. This may be considered to be an objective opinion... Mark Mallett

I put a set of Goodrich B60/13's (yes **B60's**!!) on my 1974 Mustang and while I found the tires themselves to be good tires, I was terribly disappointed in how quitely the sidewalls started cracking (dry rot?). As I recall it started happening within 2-3000 miles. With those low-wide tires the car cornered great! (it even made that factory "mushy" power steering feel quite good!) It may have been that I picked up a set of tires that had been improperly stored at the dealer (how much call for B60/13's is there?), but based on this I would NOT recommend them to anyone.
