Can anyone offer a sensible explaination for a paint problem I have had on 2 cars (79 rabbit and 72 toyota). The problem is that I notice spots where the paint has discolored without any apparent surface flaw. On the newer car, there were at least 2 episodes of this, each of which appears as if someone had dripped a chemical in trail from the left front fender towards the rear of the car. On both cars the spots are a light blue, while one car is dark blue and one tan. As I said, the mysterious aspect is that the surface seems to be untouched. I am wondering whether this can occur because of some chemical (brake fluid, carburetor cleaner, etc.) used in servicing the car, or whether I am getting bombed by drops off of a truck.
