For those into SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) racing, and other forms of
road racing, WATKINS GLEN LIVES! The track is up for sale and that sale
is to be finalized shortly. The rumor mill claims that Roger Penske is
forming a corporation to run the track. At last the Gran Prix Corporation
will be run out of town and someone interested in racing will run the track.
I have word from the regional exec of the SCCA Glen Region that club racing
will include several national events, several regional events, SOLO 1 & 2
and other typical club events. There is also a faint glimmer of returning
the Formula one American Gran Prix to the track where it all started and
ran until 1980 when the Gran Prix Corporation couldn't pay the prize money
(read Prix any way you like!)
I'm sorry, in my haste I didn't mention that the Glen is in upstate New York
for those who never heard of it or live on the West coast.
