I decided to throw this into the net after trying out the latest offering from Nissan: The Datsun Pulsar NX. I wasn't unimpressed... it has sporty lines, quite peppy performance, excellent list of standard features (only air-conditioning is optional) and pop up lights (wow, must be a sports car!) I can't help thinking it looks weird, but for someone with a budget to consider it does provide an alternative to the TR's and MG's since Coventry and Abingdon stoped production. The pulsar is like a dumpy Celica with a 1600cc transaxle. I guess it will be good for those yuck winters I have to suffer. Five speed stick is std, but one can get a 3 speed autotragic box of cogs if thats your cup of tea. I like it, but I'm waiting in a (long) line to try a Rabbit GTI, if the VW dealer can keep one long enough. Terry Bradley (who will never make it as a car critic!) houti!tb

The two Pulsars I saw at the Boston Auto Show indicated one thing to me.... Toyota has finally learned how to build a car like the Americans. Shoddy trim work and bad design aside, The car is like a rehash of the Ford EXP with the Celica Coupe rear-end. This car will make the Datsun 200SX lovers happy, but a sports car??????
