I saw a black Rabbit GTI in a shopping center parking lot about
a week and a half ago in north jersy. The sticker was still in the window.
I don't think the car was a fake.

No, it's not a fake. I saw one at a dealer. They seem to start somewhere
around $8500 (not too bad, I guess).

Why are people doubting the existance of the VW Rabbit GTI? In my relentless
search for the prefect (and affordable) sport(ish) car I tryed a GTI. The
dealerships I went to had mixed attitudes: One said "We only get 4 a month,
and most of the cars in shipping are sold any.. demonstrator, sorry that was
sold yesterday...." and so on. This same dealer said, before I asked, that
there was "no room for price negotiation".
Not 10 miles away was another dealer with a totally different attitude: "Shure
you can try one". So I did. No big deal! Every thing I expected. Just another
Rabbit that goes round corners like its on rails, same shi**y gear shift (rather
like stirring glue) and has a revvy engine. The main performance, I beleive
comes from the gear ratios. The poor bugger is revving its heart out!
I was not impressed, except it can go fast 'round corners.

Seems to me they have been sold in Canada for about a year
now. I have looked at them in the lot, but not actually
taken a demo (I am saving for a house, and a second rabbit
seems a bit excessive under those circumstances).
