[net.auto] TVR

Does anyone out there have a TVR? I have one, and would like
to hear from other owners/fans.

For those of you who don't know what a TVR is, (A What?)
A TVR is a limited production British sports car, It has a
fiber glass body, tubular steel space frame, four wheel independent
suspension, and (sometimes) Tr6 engine, transmission and
drive-train. Limited production means < 300/year.

I don't have a TVR but I do at least know of them. Have you seen the latest
article in AutoWeek concerning the new TVR? I will have to get my copy back
so I can send you the basics of the article.... anyway it looked interesting.
About the closest look I've had of a TVR was at the Watkins Glen race course
in New york. The car was racing in the D production class while I was racing
my Sunbeam Tiger in C production (no..... not a mixmaster -- see I have trouble
with my favorite marque too!) I don't recall how well he did in the race so
I'll have to get out the old result sheets for this past season and see.

A friend of mine here in Champaign (Illinois) recently bought a 2500M.
Lovely car. He is currently selling his TR250 (minus the engine, which
he put in the TVR), if anybody out there is interested...

Many people with TVRs or friends with TVRs would like to know that there
is a TVR Car Club in the USA. The address is:

TVR Car Club of England.
Marq J. Ruben
4450 S. Park ave.
Chevy Chase MD 20815

The club newsletters contain lots of useful information, like where
other TVR owners are in the area. There are also three books on TVRs.
The club is a segment of the TVR Car Club Of England. This means we get
the newsletter from England as well as our local (USA) newsletter.
There aren't enough cars for separate clubs in various regions. Every
year the USA area has a meeting (the past two in NJ), open to all Sports Cars.

I will broadcast the next meeting well in advance. ( If I am still at a net
site then.)
