[comp.mail.mush] mush & "stuff"

dor@lanl.gov (David Rich) (05/11/89)

I've got mush 6.5 up on my sun 3/60 (running unix 3.5)...
Question: Does mush support "stuff"-like functionality
in tool mode? In other words, can I mouse on some stuff
in one (sun) window and then "stuff" (i.e., right mouse, then
select "stuff" option) it into mush's main window whilst
editing a message (or something)? To answer my own question,
I can't! Is this functionality not supported? Supported but
perhaps I've got mush configured wrong? Or soon to be supported?

Thanks,

The question is really: does mush support the selection service
capabilities?

No. Unfortunately, mushtool was written back before sunview in the
days when sun 2.0 was just surfacing and NFS was just about in BETA
tests at SRI :-) the suntools mode has changed very little since
then, but bugs have attempted to be fixed and enhancements have been
kept to a minimum. Now that I'm -reasonably- sure that no one is
running 2.0 anymore, porting it to sunview would be a good thing.
this would, of course, mean that "scrollbars" would be used in all
the windows! At any rate, this is not going to happen real soon now
because of other time-restraining committments.
