[comp.mail.mush] Multiple address aliases

ant@batserver.cs.uq.oz (Anthony Murdock) (09/29/89)

I am using mush version 6.4 which seems to have a problem when I try to send
mail to more than one person at a time.

I have an alias (for example)
alias hon ant craig phunt .....
with ant aliased as
	alias ant Anthony Murdoch <ant@batserver>
and the rest of them aliased similary.

If I try to send mail to "hon", then the mail is returned with an error
something like
	Unrecognised address format < ant @ batserver , >
The error code is 554.

Now, it seems that it is the comma that is stuffing things. But where does
it come from. In my alias list there are no commas. I understand that mush
inserts commas. I checked the To: list and it has inserted the commas in
the correct positions. I have tried using different comment brackets
(ie " and () ) as described in the manual, neither of which solve the problem
(in fact the " comment brackets don't work at all). I even tried having
no comments at all, but to no avail.

The problem also occurs when I try to use a CC list or BCC list.

Anyone out there have any suggestions ?

Thanx in advance,

ant

Your MTA is not configured to understand commas. Mush must be recompiled
with the NO_COMMAS option defined; this is described in config.h-dist and
in one or more of the assorted README files.
