I'd like to put a shortwave receiver in my car. Are there any reasonable am/fm/sw units or is it best to use a converter? Has anyone tried putting a portable receiver in a car using the regular antenna? thanks Steve Crandall mhuxt!evans

(It didn't have stereo on the FM, but it was still a pretty impressive radio.) SW reception was usually just plain horrible during the day, and fair at night. By the way - the radio used an external band box in the glove compartment, and received through the standard antenna.

Drake made a full out HF (high frequency, 15 - 80 meters) transciever for automotive use. Hygain made an antenna that went with it well. Contact Henry Radio in Butler,MO , Anahiem,CA , or Los Angeles,CA for info about current equipment. They will carry it or be able to get it. They do phone and mail orders. david
