A recent article on the net quoted the price difference between the Supra and GTS as approaching $6K. Not quite. According to R&T's 83 Sports and GT Guide the base GTS lists $9969, while the Supra list's for $15.3K. However, the GTS lacks some of the equipment found standard on the Supra such as air conditioning, electric mirrors , rear wiper etc. When all of these items are added to the GTS the base price creeps up over $12K. True, the GTS has most of the nice features of the Supra such as IRS, interior and wide wheels and tires. According to R&T's test even though they've added fuel injection to the GTS the performance gain is minimal and the engine is still rough and noisey above 4000. The 83 Supra is 1.5 secs quicker in the 1/4 mile and 2.9 secs quicker 0-60 while giving up only 3 MPG. I think the 3k price differential is worth extra refinement in the powertrain.
