#N:ihlpb:4100006: 0:1098 ihlpb!clark Dec 16 12:43:00 1982 I was recently involved in an accident that required my car to go into the shop for repairs. The accident occured on a Tuesday. My car was supposed to be ready on Friday..then Monday...then Wednesday...then Friday...then Monday... then Tuesday...and finally I got it back on Wednesday. The problem was that I had been forced to rent a car to get to work, etc. during the time my car was in the shop. I did not have a car rental clause in my auto policy, so I was stuck paying for the rental -- $260!!! Had I known that I would have to rent a car for that long, I probably could have bought one for less than that that would have lasted for the two weeks I needed it!! My point here is: If you do not have a car rental clause in your policy, get one immediately before *you* get burned like this. It costs less than $10 a year -- it usually won't cover the full cost of the rental, but it sure helps. (I've since added it to mine, but it doesn't do me much good now. I don't recall my agent ever asking if I wanted one!) Hoping you can afford to have a merry Christmas..... Tom (ihlpb!) Clark
