[comp.mail.mush] Mush 7.2 at cse.ogi.edu

raan@techunix.BITNET (Ran Ever-Hadani) (03/20/91)

I FTP'ed mush-7.2.tar.Z from cse.ogi.edu, uncompressed it untared it,
and tried make. I got a whole bunch of messages saying that many
*.h headear files are missing. All of them where supposed to be
in the subdirectory suntool/ .

Hmm, looks like you used the sun version of the Makefile. Try
editing your copy of the Makefile for your system. (you can get
a prety generic bsd4.2 makefile by simply removing the sun
specific stuff) Take a look in the sources for the #ifdefs
and set your Makefile up to define the ones you require.

Of course I did. I want to use mushtool. Is that a crime?

Great then everything must be in place, go for it. Mush 7.2 comes
up just fine on my Suns and my ISIs. Funny, your sun not knowing
where the libraries are.

Lots of Suns that aren't intended for software development work are
installed without the SunWindows header files or libraries, usually
in the name of saving space. If you have a diskless workstation,
it may simply be that the necessary directories aren't NFS mounted.
Otherwise, you'll need to have them installed from your OS tape or CD.
