One of the fellows on our staff is set in his ways with /ucb/mail for doing Email. However, he does acknowledge Message's bulletin board capabilities and usefulness. Here's the question: is it possible to turn off mail handling within one user's Message's environment? - Anthony Edwards

One easy change to fix this would be to make the default UNIX mail spool file a preference. Then he could simply point to some file which won't get mail in it, and his UNIX mail would never be bothered. I ran into the need for this a while back, when I wanted console to look for mail in a filesystem which was NFS-mounted from another machine. The problem is that the name of the mail spool directory gets compiled into the code right now. It should be a preference. (I didn't get around to trying to fix it, though.)
