One of our student consultants discovered a bug with the help program: > Excerpts from official.consul: 26-Sep-89 HELP program Ananda Glover-Akpey@nort (517) > There is a small problem with the help program. Having called > up a help window (from the typescript) on a certain topic, when I try > calling up a 2nd help window (for a different topic) the console's load > skyrockets up indefinitely and I don't get the 2nd help info. I requested. > For example: "help mail" <RETURN> ; "help messages" <RETURN> brings up the above problem. I found my way out of this problem by choosing QUIT from the help window's menu. - Ananda This is running help off the X11R3 tape on an IBM RT. Does anyone have an idea why this behavior is happening? Is it a bug in help or a configuration problem. I suspect that help opens a socket when it starts up, and subsequently listens to that socket for additional help requests. Of course, this doesn't help explain the sudden CPU load. - Anthony Edwards Project NORTHSTAR
