This one's a *real* minor one, but it looks as if the help file for "CreateInset" was MS-DOSified slightly oddly - "create" was presumably intended to be replaced with "cre8", but the "8" didn't show up in the right place, so it came out as "cres8et.help" which looks a bit odd (and hard to pronounce :-)). (BTW, if the changes *were* intended to MS-DOSify the names of various files, "cre8set.help" needs to become "cre8set.hlp" or something like that....)

One of the reasons for the aliases (which you noted in your previous post) is so folks don't have to know what the *real* name of the help files are. FYI: the name shortening was to contend with a 12 character limitation on filenames (for systems like SYSV - allowing 2 characters for RCS or SCCS archiving facilities) - and thus 7.4 is as good as 8.3 -- the majority of the Andrew distribution is not set up to port to an MS-DOS system (notable exceptions are the ODA parts) --fish (PS: in this case you are probably correct, the shortening went askew - but the filename is used consistently in the Imakefile, so it shouldn't cause any problems)

"cres8et.help" This was the fourth name change in revising the name of this file. I was exasperated. And I was assured by system folks that this name would be hidden from users by the alias mechanism. The name is exactly as intended. You may enjoy figuring out the joke; then again, you may not. Just remember that it is the documentation for createinset. Have fun, Fred Hansen
