[net.auto] car rental insurance

I agree with Tom Clark--car rental insurance is well worth the cost.
I'll add a few points:

1. Some insurance companies offer two levels of rental insurance, distinguished
by the maximum allowance per day. The higher coverage is sometimes enough
to cover daily rental minus mileage.

2. When renting a car when yours has been in an accident, ask if the
rental agency has special rates for such cases. I've found a couple
companies that gave much lower rates if it is the case that you are
renting a car because yours is in the shop after an accident. I'm not
sure why they give the break. Perhaps they assume you will be using the
car for local driving rather than extended trips.

3. If you have rental insurance and are involved in an accident that is
not your fault, your insurance company will pay for the rental and
get the cost back from the other party's insurance company. If you
don't have rental insurance, you must deal with the other insurance
company directly.
