[comp.soft-sys.andrew] Annotating a mail message using messages

barry@saturn.ADS.COM (Barry Lustig) (02/06/90)

Is it possible to edit a mail message while reading it under messages?
When I try to edit it in the bottom window, it says that the message
is read only.

Trivial: Click in the message body and type ESC-~. The message body
will become read-write.

(Before I fixed it late last year, even when it was read-write messages
would still interpret keystrokes according to its notions if you had set
to use the expert keystrokes. This is no longer a problem.)

Sorry Fred - while it is true, this will let you type in the Messages
Body region - there is no provision for saving any of your changes in
the original message.
