I notice that the line beginning "Excerpts from andrew:" is no longer
boldened and italicized, as it was in Messages 6.??. Is that a good
change?

It is still bold for me (see above), though yours wasn't. I know Bob
made some changes in how excerpting is done, and I suspect this problem
might be due to your somehow using an old template file instead of the
latest one. (Bob, does that sound plausible?)

Yes, I noticed the same thing -- it's bold italics when I compose the
message, but it's plain text when the message gets delivered, although
the body of the excerpt is still italicized.

I liked the old way better.

I've also noticed that ^X^S in sendmessage doesn't Send/Post the
message anymore. I have to use the menu entry instead. I suppose I can
fix that if I read enough documentation?

Tom's excerpt had the appropriate bold font when it came through to me!
I still suspect the problem is in someone somewhere sometimes using an
old version of the Messages template.

I have no idea why the sending keystroke should have changed. However,
the following line in an init file should fix things:

addkey sendmessage-send-message ^X^S

Which init file? Depends on how you set things up! I personally have a
.messagesinit and a .sendmessageinit, each of which includes a common
file .amsinit with a line:

include /u/nsb/.amsinit

and I put the addkey line in there; this makes it take effect for both
messages-sending window and sendmessage. -- Nathaniel

I believe the send/post message binding was changed to ^Xs because many
people here were hitting ^X^S accidentally.
