[comp.soft-sys.andrew] Did you run it?

nsb@thumper.bellcore.com (Nathaniel Borenstein) (02/28/90)

As I think I've mentioned in previous notes on these topics, I'm
currently doing research on an Active Mail language that will permit
some (but by no means all) of the neat things you can do with Ness but
will not have any of the security holes. Given that this is what I'm
working on, I started to feel guilty after sending out my latest message
to the Andrew mailing lists -- am I contributing to making people run
Ness unthinkingly, by sending them these harmless Ness programs? This
led me to the question you are now being asked to vote on. What I'd
like to know is, how did you respond to my Ness programs? Did you run
them? Did you check them first? Please tell the truth, I'd really like
to know something about the psychology of these things. (I'm afraid I
would have been sorely tempted to run it without checking it myself!)
Thanks for your participation. -- Nathaniel

PS -- If you didn't run it because you don't have a SparcStation, please
don't bother voting -- that's not an answer I'll find terribly
interesting. -- Nathaniel
