[comp.soft-sys.andrew] Patch 9 works for me

datri@convex.com (Anthony A. Datri) (01/16/91)

I built the release on an SS2 running 4.1.1 a few days ago with
cc -O4 /usr/lib/libm.il, and it's been working like a champ, modulo the
same old problem with the ness stuff. Be prepared to have lots of swap --
O4 feeds the code through iropt, which grows pretty big. 30 meg of swap
wasn't enough to compile setup.c under the console tree -- I had to add
another 20.

I'm glad things are generally working for you.

Could you specify what about Ness isn't working? On the Sun4's I've
been able to use for testing purposes Ness has built cleanly. Please
include the relevant portion of the build log if you still have it.

PS - have you tried cleaning out the Ness source directories and
rebuilding from scratch?

The same bombout during the build as reported by jip@helix.nih.gov.

No, I had to delete the tree.

Several times. It doesn't bother me all that much since I've never mananged
to figure out what ness is supposed to be anyway.
