I've been asked to learn as much as I can about DESQview. I though I'd come to the net for help. The only reference I've found so far has been "The DESQview Sourcebook." Has anyone heard of any other books on the subject that would include detailed information on its program interface and how it all works? I would like to hear about the features it offers and how they compare to similar environments. Who/what competes with DESQview? What limitations does it claim to have? What are some of the problems people have had with regard to : its programatic interface "undocumented features"/bugs using Turbo C, Microsoft C, MASM, and/or TASM performance (relative to 8088 and 80x86 systems) technical support multitasking and context switches TSR programs compatibilty with DOS DOS function calling using commercial applications (spreadsheets, editors, dbms, comm) communication programming (intertask and COM*:) etc What hardware platforms is DESQview available on? How good of a multitasking OS is it? How much control do have over task management? Do YOU recommend it? Would you place some limit on what applications it should be used for? Hopefully, by the time I get a majority of your response I will have had a chance to read a good book on DESQview. In addition to basic information about DESQview I want learn (from the net) those aspects of DESQview that you can't get except from experienced users. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated Thanks Tim Coddington tac@sei.cmu.edu 412-268-7712/244-8557
