Re: Nancy's problem with stalling... One summer I changed to an exhaust header on my Toyota Land Cruiser. As the summer drew to a close and the Oregon monsoon took over, I began having problems with the LC going suddenly gutless as I hit the freeway driving to school. No amount of throttle or choke would make it do more then idle. The only cure seemed to be to shut it down (after getting out of the fast lane) and let it sit for 5 minutes. I finally tracked the problem to a change I's made in the intake setup, removing the breather bolted to the engine block, going to straight fresh air. Evidently the carb was icing up on those cold, wet mornings, and only stopping to let the engine heat warm the carb would help. Anyway, whether that was the problem or not, setting up the air intake so it drew warm air from around the exhaust header made all the difference in the world.
