[alt.msdos.programmer] PC Interrupts, some clarifications

teg@cci632.UUCP (Thomas Gauger) (01/05/91)

First I must apologize, the box that I am running on is an AT
compatible. Not an XT. I, for some reason, always forget which is
which. Therefore IRQ5 is the LPT2 interrupt. There should be no problem
in using this interrupt, and too this point it has not been.

Apparently either a specific EOI or non-specific EOI will work with the
mode that is selected by the PC on the 8259A Interrupt controller chip.

Yes, I was aware of the /W3 option to the compiler but did not have it turned
on as I don't normally use it. I probably should, as this case has proven.

Thanks once again for the quick responses! :*)
