My company is looking to buy a new operating system to run on a 386 pc. We'll be using it to record, analyse, and track data obtained in experiments running 128 channels of input. It must be able to run a PC type DOS concurrently, talk to suns via ethernet, etc... It seems that Venix 3.2 meets our requirements, but I'd like to know what other people have to say about it, considering it's mainly being used in automation, whereas we'll be using it to develop neural-nets. If there is another OS that may seem more suitable, I'd like to hear about those as well.
