We're looking at purchasing a realtime microprocessor based control system for use with our many robotics projects including the Utah/MIT Dextrous Hand, Entertainment Robots, and High Performance Teleoperation Systems. Can anyone out there tell me about the type of customer support they have recieved from Wind River Systems on VxWorks. This is the system we are leaning towards but seem to have gotten fairly slow turnaround time on our calls to of all things, the sales staff. Specifically you could tell me how long the average call takes to get a reply (ever?). You could also give comments, suggestions regarding this choice versus other systems. We are fairly heavily committed to VMEbus and the 680x0 family and have several Sun Workstations. Other systems we've considered are Software Components Group (pSOS+), Toolsmith. Send me Email (klaus@snowhite.ced.utah.edu or klaus@ced.utah.edu). If response is good, I'll post a summary of the replies...good or bad. Thanx in advance and I look forward to hearing from all of you.
