to clarify jack buchanan's t-bird motor: the mercury, lincoln and tbird or
(of) that era used a different motor than the 332-352-390-406-427-428 used
in regular fords (about 64 or 65 ford began using the latter in all ford
products, clearly labeled as "Ford Powered," thus avoiding the kind of
thing that zapped GM when they put chev v8's into oldsmobiles); the
other engine was, starting about 1957, a 383, 410, 430 and wound up
as the monster 462 Lincoln, which was the last one to use it; the 429,
which was similar to the 427-8, but had better casting techniques was
the generic ford successor in t-birds and lincolns; funny now, but i
read the other day about a turbo 4 cyl. t-bird soon to appear, 2.3 liter
