Our group (NASA Infared Telescope facility) is evaluating QNX for possible use in a telescope control system. Part of the system is contained in a VME bus. We are thinking running QNX on RadiSys's EPC-4 (80386 VMEbus Embedded PC CPU Module). I would like to hear from anyone who used these products together. I would also like to know if a task, running under QNX, can communicate with other processors in the VME bus. If so, how is it done. Thanks in advance. We are using OS/9 on a Matrix MD-320 CPU system. We actually have a second MD-320 with the probe debugger on it. We are trying to set up a multiprocessing system, perhaps even increasing the number of processors. Is there anyone out there who is using OS/9 with multiple CPUs? HAve you added extensive software to do this? Is OS/9 running on all the CPUs or is only one CPU running the OS and the others just executing modules? Also, for those folks using OS/9, is there a way to speed up the compiler? Now it takes a horribly long amount of time (Compared to an equivalent compiler on the PC or Mac) even forthe smallest programs. Caglan M. Aras aras@eceris.ncsu.edu| Experts know more and N.
