Has anyone ever seen DECnet available from any VME operating system
vendor?

YES!

We have it available on intelligent Ethernet cards (both 3U and 6U high).
The standard version is written for the OS-9 operating system, but a
special firmware version is available for other operating systems. In
that case you will have to do some software work, but you will not have to
bother with the DECNET protocol. This last version is used by PLC
manufacturers who have PLC's on VMEbus and are interfacing directly with
DECNET.
Please mail us your post address so we can send you datasheets and price
information.

SUN and MIPS both sells DECNET for their computers. Of course these
computer runs UNIX and not some realtime operating system. You can
also by VME <-> various DEC bus convertors.

There is a VME card by Systemforschung, which also has drivers for OS-9.
I have heard of this through a distributor in Holland called Inducom.
Try an E-mail to andre@inducom.uucp or ...!uunet!mcsun!inducom!andre

I do not know anything about its performance, so cannot say whether it
works well or not.

Tony.

There is VAXELN, which is a DEC realtime operating system. It runs on a
variety of VAXes, including AEON's VME300. The card has an intergrated ethernet
port, 1-8 Mbytes of Dual port memory and full VMEbus support.

VAXELN supports DECnet, TCP/IP, DECwindows and several other network protocols
under Ada, C, Pascal and FORTRAN. This may meet your needs.

Motorola has one. Supports SYS V / 68 , possibly SYS V / 88 .
