"... Bridgestones are garbage." - from a recent article. I would like to reiterate that one should ignore such statements when made without reference. Back when I was regularly riding motorcycles, I found that Bridgestone tires were excellent for road holding qualities (they saved my butt a number of times during quick meneuvers to avoid the (automobile) driver who looked right through me and pulled out into my path). However, one sacrificed tread life to gain this quality (my rear tire typically was shot after 4k mi. of highway driving) since they tended to be softer than a "high mileage" tire. "One man's garbage...." My experience with the mud & snow tires that came on my 4wd Subaru has been similar. Pat Vilbrandt ...microsof!fluke!pwv

Rick, I have Bridgestone Potenzas on my supra and have no complaint. I think you can discount a good number of complaints you've seen here on the net. ("my new car has bridgestones and it skids a lot when it rains" is hardly an objective or conclusive evaluation). I still check out my tires regularly though. By the way, what made you choose the Maxima over the twin cam six Cressida. ihldt!dbg p.s. my car has horrible traction on ice and snow. posi-trac, high torque, and fat tires are a bad combo for winter driving.
