[comp.realtime] Realtime Kernel for PC

muench@bl.physik.tu-muenchen.de (Mathias Muench) (05/16/91)

Hi,

urgently I need informations about realtime kernels for PC-compatible
286/386 computers. Who sells them, do they work, how well do they
do the job and so on.
Any information and pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mathias

I believe that the Meridian Ada compiler has some tools to provide a standalone
system to run on an IBM-PC. It supports tasking and interrupts, so this may
give you what you need.

You may find what you are looking for in OS-9000 from Microware.

OS-9000 is a complete multi-tasking real-time operating system for the
80386 and can run directly on most 386-based PC/AT machines (not 286).
You can partition the hard disk between DOS and OS-9000 and selectively
boot either. In addition, using the OS-9000 PCF file manager, you can
access the DOS partition under OS-9000. A C compiler, Assembler, Linker
and C-Source Debugger are included as standard. In addition, its modular
nature allows custom drivers and other modules to be included easily,
and even dynamically loaded at run-time.
