                      Call for Papers
EUROPEAN WORKSHOPS on PARALLEL COMPUTING (EWPC'92)
              "From Theory to Sound Practice"
            March 23-24 1992, Barcelona (Spain)

EWPC'92 is to be a major European event aiming at taking
stock of the current state-of-the-art in parallel computing
and opening new directions for future work. Special emphasis
is put on providing insights in the relationship between
theoretical foundations and practical experience.

The Workshop is sponsored by the Commission of European
Communities, DG XIII (Telecommunications, Information
industries and Innovation) in the framework of the ESPRIT
Parallel Computing Action.

Goals of the Workshop

- to present original scientific results in the area of
parallel computing,
- to discuss the current state-of-the-art, both with respect
to theory and applications,
- to discover promising directions for further work,
- to demonstrate the effectiveness of tools and
environments,
- to evaluate novel applications,
- to compare different approaches to solving specific
problems,
- to attempt to bridge the gap between theory and practice,
- to provide a forum for exchange of stimulating ideas,

Areas of interest (non exhaustive !)

- Foundations, theories, formal approaches to parallel
computing,
- Architectures,
- Methods,
- Algorithms and optimization,
- Languages,
- Support: operating systems, environments, tools,
- Applications: signal processing, image processing, data
bases, neural networks, robotics, fault-tolerant systems,
etc.
