To: Protein-analysis bulletin board. Concern: new protease with a narrow specificity. Papaya latex proteinase IV (EC 3.4.22.-) (PPIV) [1] seems to have a very narrow specificity for cleaving Gly-Xaa bond [2]. I thought it was worthwhile to post this info here as this is (to my knowledge) the first purified and characterized enzyme with such specificity.
