Concern: new protease with a narrow specificity.
Papaya latex proteinase IV (EC 3.4.22.-) (PPIV) [1] seems to have a very
narrow specificity for cleaving Gly-Xaa bond [2]. I thought it was worthwhile
to post this info here as this is (to my knowledge) the first purified and
characterized enzyme with such specificity. In addition it could (and will)
probably be commercialized (after all it comes from the same biological
source as papayin).
