For John Lynch:
RE: Modelling Deer Population Dynamics

Several memebers of the Zoology Department here are presently working
on white tailed deer population models in conjunction with the Arkansas
Fish and Game Commission. The focus has been on management, yet the models
are concerned with long run population growth and extinction. Most emphasis
has been on Leslie type models, but there maybe future attempts to employ
stochastic models as well. Please let me know if you want any more details.

I have a phd student working on statistical issues of estimating
growth in a leslie matrix model. I wouldn't mind hearing more
about the study you are doing. He is working on cohort data
first, as is typical in toxicology studies,...but plans on
working on field data next.
