[bionet.population-bio] Latest version of MacClade

Mats.Sundvall@bio.embnet.se (11/16/89)

Can anyone tell me what the latest version of Mac Clade is. Is source
code available for the program?

We have a very large dataset and it screws up Mac Clade competly.
Would be nice to be able to fix it.

In response to Mats Sundvall's request:

MacClade is about to be released in version 3.0 as a commercial product
from the publisher Sinauer Associates in Sunderland, Massachusetts.

As far as I know source code is not available but Wayne Maddison may be
helpful (he is the author along with his brother David). His e-mail
addresses are:

HETERO@UCBCMSA.bitnet

or:

HETERO@amber.berkeley.edu

Of course, if you have a machine on which it can run you might also be
able to use my programs MOVE or DNAMOVE from PHYLIP (depending on what you
want to do). That is available in source code.

Ordinary requests for MacClade (for version 2.0 which sells for, I
think, $6 in North America or $8 overseas, should be directed to
David Maddison at Museum of Comparative Zoology, Harvard University,
Cambridge, Massachusetts 02138, USA. People other than Mats please
don't use the above e-mail address for routine inquiries. If version
3.0 is out they may have stopped shipping 2.0.
