Dear colleagues, We are involved in an evolutionary program measuring diversity that appears in bacterial populations after transposition of mobile DNA. We observe a polymor- phism among individuals in the site and number of mobile element copies on Southern blot of chromosomal DNA in function of the age of the culture. A simple measure as the index used in DNA fingerprinting (D=2N/(A+B) does not take into account the historical succession among samples. Does anyone know an index we should use in that purpose?
