It has been some time since I last examined population estimation techniques and would appreciate any pointers to current techniques that are based on mark/recapture. The population in question (NE Pacific Humpback whales) is extremely dynamic on its breeding grounds and assumptions of no immigration/emigration are difficult (impossible) to justify. Please e-mail and I will summerize (<-that's Hawaiian for summarize) if there is enough interest.
