[comp.sys.isis] You asked for better documentation...

ken@gvax.cs.cornell.edu (Ken Birman) (01/17/90)

We`ve had several requests for better documentation and I have decided to
spend a bit of time extending the manual.

My current plans are to include chapters on:
	Architecture of large-scale ISIS applications
ISIS utilities and how to fit them into your planning
	Designing for high performance
Building services to span long-haul network links
The META system and how to use it.
In addition, of course, we will make a pass over the current manual
and man pages fixing errors and documenting V2.0 extensions to the
system. The missing performance appendix will be filled in.

I have already rewriten the section on setting up ISIS.

This will all take a while, and writing a bit more won't slow it
down much. So, here's your chance to influence what we write!

There are also some papers in the works that should help shed light
on some of these issues. I am unsure that we can afford to mail them,
though: our mailing list is now so long that it costs nearly $3000 to
send a typical technical report out. We are thinking about how to
deal with this problem.

Anyhow, please email your wish list (gee, it would be a lot easier to
figure out if we can use ISIS if you could only do an example of a...)
I'll try and address your concerns.
