A few people asked if I could "report on my experience" with this machine. Well, the system is running on it now and I must say that I am quite impressed. For compilations and running ISIS the RS/6000 seems to be roughly comparable to the high end SUN, MIPS, or HP machines. The UNIX environment is fine and the documentation is very good (the whole manual set is online through a hypertext interface). Screen has a little raster flicker, but this is apparently because the displays go very shook up in shipment to us and need to be recalibrated. So, overall, I think it looks quite good. -- Ken
