[comp.sys.isis] ISIS V2.1 GENERAL DISTRIBUTION NOW AVAILABLE

ken@gvax.cs.cornell.edu (Ken Birman) (09/20/90)

This posting is to officially announce the ISIS V2.1 general
distribution. This latest release of the system runs solidly
and has been extensively tested, both with the new BYPASS
mode enabled and disabled.

Machines supported include: AIX, APOLLO, AUX, IBM PC-RT/BSD,
DEC2100, DEC3100, DEC5000 (use 3100 makefile), MIPS, GOULD,
HP Spectrum/800 series, HP 300 series, MACH, MIPS, NEXT
(slight differences from Mach), SGI, SUN3, SUN SPARFC, VAX
under ULTRIX, BSD.

The system is subject to copyright but no export or use restrictions.
There is no user agreement and source is available.

The system is being distributed from the following sources:
	cu-arpa.cs.cornell.edu (pub/ISISV21.TAR.Z, pub/ISISV21-DOC.TAR.Z)
	uunet.uu.net (networking/ISISV21...)
	mcsun.eu.net (same)
	SUN public archives
Mach distribution tape from Mt. Xinu

We did not have time to get the Convex port into the distribution but
will distribute it as a patch soon. Same for Cray UNICOS and probably
IBM AIX-370. Someone is doing a VMS port and may publish it as a patch
to the system too; IDS is also doing one, but for its commercial release
of the system. The new authentication service will also be out soon,
as a patch to V2.1. We have no current plans to do a V2.2 distribution.

Questions to isis@cs.cornell.edu, bugs to isis-bugs@cs.cornell.edu
