About 5 weeks ago I posted a V3.0 status report indicating that this version of ISIS should be out in early January. We've continued to receive inquiries about this. Right now, we are hopeful that the release will be in that time-frame, i.e. in about a month. Recall that V3.0 is a commercial release and will be distributed from ISIS Distributed Systems for a fee (not a very high one, though). Once V3.0 is out there will be a V2.2 distribution including any bug fixes to V2.1 that IDS has identified and corrected in developing V3.0, including everything that has been mentioned in postings by Tim Clark or Pat Stephenson. V2.2 will be free and available from Cornell. But, it will lack the performance enhancements and network management utilities that IDS has developed. (For example, IDS is doing the code to get pg_client to run in BYPASS mode, and in general is fixing up that part of ISIS to get the last bugs out. V2.2 would have any bug fixes that IDS comes up with, but not the pg_client enhancements). Email to ids@cs.cornell.edu for pricing information, etc, regarding the IDS offering. (We plan to change this to ids.com early in 1991.) -- Ken Birman
