Some people have sent mail wondering when we planned to announce V3.0. In fact, this version of ISIS is up and running now. ISIS V3.0 was announced a few weeks ago, through a mailing from ISIS Distributed Systems Inc. If you didn't get this mailing, it is probably because you are not on the mailing list of the company. If you do want the announcement and price information, you should request it explicitly. The quick summary is that V3.0 is available now, but you have to explicitly request the material from the company if you want it. Email to ids@cs.cornell.edu giving a US-mail address and it will be sent to you. V3.0 fixes all the known bugs in V2.1, has the new pathname-style of group names, runs grousp clients (pg_client) in BYPASS mode, and has a faster version of isis_remote. It also includes the network resource manager and some other new facilities. Existing V2.1 applications wil run without change, and enhanced versions of some applications (like Meta) will also be available within the near future.
