Since posting my note about the coming anonymous FTP availability of
ANU NEWS from BIONET, I have received word from a person on BITNET who
may start an effort to distribute the software over that network.
Since this is not a finalized decision yet, the volunteer will remain
anonymous, but he (a clue!) has passed along the following
requirements that VAX BITNET sites will have to fulfill to
participate:
-- they must be able to receive and send /VMSDUMP files
-- they have to have plenty of diskspace ready to receive it
-- they must be prepared to be asked to re-transmit the files to a
couple other sites
-- they have to receive and re-send the entire thing (all parts)
-- if they plan on making changes, they need a C compiler
(otherwise, you don't need to... most sites don't need to recompile it)
If this plan come to pass, our benefactor will post an announcement to
this bulletin board.
