Hi. I post this for an associate, so please excuse what ignorance I display. My associate is doing research in medical imaging, specifically MRI techniques. Coming up with new MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging, formerly known as NMR) systems involves simulating field interactions and mapping fields in various conditions. She's been using a horrendous piece of software so bug-ridden, slow, and feature-scarce that it's impossible to work. So I'm collecting names and descriptions of packages that do magnetic field mapping in 3-D (or even 2-D). Email to me if you know of anything. I'll also email my results to interested parties. Thanx in advance, in reverse, and all over. Things I'm interested in: 1) user selectable/definable conductor/coil geometries (with the ability to map with 16+ conductors in the simulation space) 2) user selectable current/current density in the conductors/coils 3) the ability to calculate the inductance of a set of conductors on the fly. 4) the abillity to plot field density in the simulation space 5) the ability to obtain values of magnetic field at any point in space (with some kind of 3-d graphics imaging) 6) The ability to make coordinate axis grpahs of field strength along user-defined "slices" through the space (1d and 2d) Thanks again --- Also, machine dependency isn't really a factor right now. We're merely doing some fact-finding. ============================================================================= Jonathan Kauffman PO Box 3996 YS kauffman@CS.YALE.ARPA New Haven CT 06520 kauffman@SUNED.ZOO.CS.YALE.EDU (203)-436-0474 software@YALEVM.BITNET Love it or don't
